However, once projected on a gray projection screen to increase contrast (not white) and some minor color adjustments this projector comes to live when playing blue ray disks. Being on a budget I did a thorough back ground check & research with an established budget of $1500 for my first Home Theater I Began in 2005 with an InFocus 805 (resolution 800x600) for $800 and used my stereo for audio amp for cable and Xbox input (80" screen) nice. But in 2007 I decided to upgrade to HD (Affordable was the Mitsubishi HD1500 (720p resolution)) ($800) and added HD Sony 5.1 Surround Sound & Blu-ray (PS3) (100" screen) very good but now its finally to again upgrade in 2010 to FULL HD 1080p economically!!So for under $1000 my final pick was the OPTOMA HD180!!! This is the Best in its class and is totally unbelievable to watch using HD Cable, PS3 Blu-ray movies (Seeing AVATAR and White Christmas pure eye candy) with this projector. So fantastic you see the true beauty and clarity of color and details. Reading newspapers and finding details of scenes so captivating and... Read more By This review is from: Optoma HD180 1080p DLP Home Theater Projector (Electronics) This is my second Optoma projector. I have been Optoma fan since last 6-7 years now. I used to have Optoma DV11 which had inbuilt DVD player and it was my favorite until one day a crappy Redbox DVD got stuck in it. Anyways, the picture quality of Optoma has been awesome no matter its DV11 or the brand new 1080p HD180 or HD20 (same thing). The lamp has a very good life and when I had my DV11 for 4 years, I never had to change the lamp even once. I have had my new HD20 for over an year now and its working as expected, even though I bought it refurbished. I mostly use it with my MACBOOK and the results are astounding. The picture quality, sound, lamp life, and of course the price under $1K is worth a buy for this one. Go for it. Do not even think twice. Trust Optoma same as you do your mom's cooking :) |
